Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
When you type a name, a date of birth, or a case number into one of the search tools on this site, that input travels straight to the outside provider running the search. That company processes the request and returns the results. We do not keep or log what you typed.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us, we hold onto that message so we can write back. The message stays with our own team, and we do not pass it to anyone outside our organization unless a legal obligation requires it.
Data We Gather Automatically
Each time a page loads here, our servers record some technical details about the visit:
- Which browser you used and which version of it
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Your operating system and device type
- The pages you opened and how long each one stayed on screen
- The referring site, when one sent you here
- A timestamp for every page view
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, the small files a site stores on your device. We use them to see which pages draw traffic and where readers tend to stop. Analytics services help us combine that traffic data into reports. You can block cookies through your browser settings at any time, though a few parts of the site may behave differently if you do.
What We Do With This Data
The technical data described above gets used for a small set of practical purposes:
- Keeping the site online and loading quickly
- Passing your search request to the right partner service
- Learning which pages readers find useful and which need work
- Finding and fixing technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may match your interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, build, compile, or sell any database of warrants or personal warrant records. We publish general guidance about how Essex County warrant records are held and how to check them, whether that means the Trial Court case index, the clerk of the court that issued the case, the Essex County Sheriff's Department civil process division, or the local police records office. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing we collect about visitors is turned into consumer reports or files about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
The search boxes on this site are operated by outside companies. Whatever you enter into one of those tools is handled under that partner's privacy policy rather than this one. Those partners decide their own retention and sharing practices, and we have no control over them. Read the partner's policy before you submit a search.
Links to Other Websites
This site links out to court location pages, the state case index, sheriff's office pages, legal aid organizations, and other search tools. Following any of those links takes you off this site, and from that point the other site's privacy policy governs your visit. Read it before you share personal details.
Some advertising partners track activity across sites to select the ads they show. That tracking runs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Some information may reach:
- Search partners that handle the queries you run here
- Analytics services that measure traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place advertising on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
We follow standard security practices to protect the data we collect. Nothing connected to the internet is completely safe, though. We take reasonable steps to keep your information secure, and we cannot promise that a breach will never happen.
Users Under 18
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Massachusetts law gives you rights over records that a state or local agency holds about you, and the same rules shape how public records are requested here. Under the Massachusetts Public Records Law, G.L. c. 66, section 10, a request may be made in writing and the agency answers within a set period, with exemptions defined in G.L. c. 4, section 7(26). Disputes over a public records response go to the Supervisor of Records. Court files follow a separate set of access rules, and an impounded document needs a court order. For data this site itself holds, you can:
- Ask for a copy of what we have about you
- Have us correct information that is wrong
- Ask us to erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of processing
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may change later on. When it does, the new version appears on this page with a fresh effective date. Come back if you want to see how our handling of visitor information changes over time.
